Young learners leap into lessons on resilience

The group of 19 learners from the Leap Science & Maths school in Langa will participate in the annual 'Women & Girls Invisible Force of Resilience' Programme between 1 and 8 July, hosted by the City's Disaster Risk Management Centre.

The programme takes participants through a range of disaster risks and mitigation measures over the course of a week, including hazard mapping in their communities; the basics of first aid and firefighting as well as climate change and other environmental hazards.

This year's programme also includes a field trip to the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station.
